Jennifer Horn, LMHC: Therapist for Children, Teens, and Young Adults

A Genuine, Supportive, and Well-Informed Counselor in Miami

Jennifer Horn, LMHC, Miami therapist for children and teens

There’s no denying that life isn’t always a walk in the park. While I’m sure you can relate to this as an adult, the same goes for kids, teens, and college-age students. Don’t forget, they’re going through this life without a manual, just as you are.

But life is also spectacularly beautiful.

Unfortunately, the trials faced during any phase of life can often dim that beauty and hold your child back from living the life they deserve. Anxiety, depression, and self-doubt can creep into your child’s life at any age. Mental health challenges can rob them of happiness, self-confidence, and life-fulfillment.

I get it. I’ve been in their shoes. As an experienced, understanding, and caring counselor for teens, children, and young adults. I can help support your child, whether they are elementary-school-aged, in the turbulent teenage years, or college-aged.

And, because I value being an advocate for kids and an ally for parents, I can support you, too.

“There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.”

About Jennifer Horn, LMHC

Therapist For Young Adults, Teens, and Children, Lover of Quotes and Swiftie

Therapy can be transformative and empowering. I know because I have first-hand experience.

During one part of my college years, I went through some challenging times, leading to my dealing with difficult emotions. In turn, this affected my ability to concentrate on school. Thanks to the help of one perceptive English professor, I began counseling with the campus therapist.

This was a pivotal moment for me. Not only did that counselor help me find my voice and discover my inner strength, but they also empowered me to be my own advocate and confidently make healthier decisions for my life.

I felt seen.

I felt heard.

I felt understood.

Being in therapy opened my eyes to my true career path: to become a therapist for young adults, children, and teens.

It uncovered my desire to help others like you find your voice and true potential and discover that you can change something in your life if you want to.

So I know what it’s like on both sides of the couch. I can empathize. And I can help.

With that said, it’s essential to understand that making positive changes in your life requires:

  • welcoming self-growth
  • embracing accountability
  • letting go of what you cannot control

And because I adore powerful quotes, and because I’m a Swiftie, in the immortal words of the one and only Taylor Swift:

“Part of growing up and moving into new chapters of your life is about catch and release; you can’t carry all things, decide what is yours to hold and let the rest go.”

What Makes Me Unique as A Counselor for Teens, Children, and Young Adults

First of all, I’m human, just like you. That means I’ve been through some stuff, just like you. Yes, I’m a therapist, but that’s second to the fact that I understand anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem from a first-hand perspective.

So, I can relate. And I’ll meet you where you are, treating you or your child as my equal.

I’ve worked with clients that run the socioeconomic gamut, from children involved in the juvenile justice system with absentee parents to clients living in affluent dual-income households with two involved parents.

I know how to get along with these populations and everyone in between. That’s because I treat everyone, first and foremost, as a human being. I respect everyone, no matter what the situation.

So, no judgment. Ever.

What to Expect When Working With Me

Listen. I know the thought of therapy can be overwhelming. It can be scary, intimidating, and downright unnerving – for you and your child. Again, I totally get it. (Been there, done that.)

However, my life and career experience have helped me understand what it means to be a good therapist. You need to be:

  • heard
  • validated
  • valued
  • respected

That’s what you get from me. I’ll not only respect you but also where you are in your mental health journey. I’ll meet you there and never push you to places you’re not ready to go emotionally. NEVER.

What Parents Can Expect

While you may officially be my client, you’ll still have my support. You are not in this alone. You’re a part of this whole therapy journey, especially if your child has trouble expressing their emotions. Afterall, I’m with them for one hour a week (typically). You’re with them for the other 167. You’ve got to be a part of this, or it won’t work.

Just like your child, you can feel comfortable with me. I’ll never judge you. I’ll never second-guess you. I trust that you have your child’s best interest at heart. The important thing is that we’re a team working together to help your child, teen, or college student thrive.

P.S. – That includes you, MEN. I know there’s a negative stigma around mental health for you. But don’t worry. I’ve got your back. You can feel comfortable with me as your child’s therapist. We’ve got this!

What Children, Teens, and Young Adults Can Expect

I’m very familiar with what it’s like to be a kid. I mean, we’ve all been there, right? But my level of empathy and understanding runs deep. I’ve worked with children, helped middle schoolers find their voice, and helped young adults see their growth potential.

It’s all helped me grow as a person and a therapist.

And I know it’ll get better. I’ve experienced it, and I’ve witnessed it in countless clients. Your child can expect a genuine therapist for children and young adults who wants nothing more than to see them learn, grow, and become their own advocate.

I’m here for them. I’m here for you.

And together, we can make positive changes happen.
