Warm, Genuine, and Empathetic Young Adult, Child, and Teen Counseling in Miami

Empowering wellness, one session at a time.

Have you noticed undeniable changes in your child or teen? Are they isolating themselves from their friends and family, refusing to talk to you about how they feel, no matter how nicely you ask? Or perhaps you’re a young, college-aged adult struggling with similar issues.

You’re concerned and maybe even frustrated. You don’t know what’s wrong, and they won’t tell you, so feeling lost, helpless, and unsure of what to do to help is understandable.

While they may not share their struggles with you, if it is evident that something is “off,” it’s vital not to shrug it off. Unfortunately, anxiety or depression may be robbing them (or you) of the joy they deserve, and getting them the help they need is the best thing you can do to ensure their challenges don’t get any worse.

It can be scary to be in your shoes. But you are not alone. I’m here to help your child and support you through this.

Online anxiety and depression therapy with me can help your child find their voice, improve their self-esteem, and overcome the obstacles standing in the way of a fulfilling and enjoyable life.

Who I Help Through Online Depression and Anxiety Therapy

Every stage of life comes with its share of unique challenges. However, debilitating mental health concerns can affect you or your child at any age. As an experienced child and family counselor, I specialize in helping children and tweens as young as 11 up to college-aged adults.

Therapy for Children, Tweens, and Teens

Being a kid can be hard, especially if they’re dealing with low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety. The negative self-talk and thought patterns they experience daily can really take the happiness out of life and leave them feeling burdened and unworthy of anything good.

You and I both know that’s not true, though. You have a great kid, and they deserve to live free of depression, anxiety, and harmful self-talk. Through online teen counseling in Miami and throughout Florida, I’ll empower them to embrace their own accountability to improve their lives, one session at a time.

Therapy for College Students

No matter where you go to college in Florida, I’ve got you covered through online anxiety and depression therapy. College is such a transitional time in your life. Dealing with all the emotional ups and downs of being on your own, getting decent grades, and handling horrendous weather isn’t something you have to do alone. I’m here to help.

Living in Florida, you’re very familiar with the storms Mother Nature graces our state with. They’re no fun for anyone, but as a college student in Florida, perhaps away from home for the first time, they can be downright terrifying. Not only is your routine disrupted, but they can often stir up storms within yourself that require professional support.

Therapy and Support for Families

My online therapy services also include you, the parent. Afterall, helping your child navigate mental health concerns isn’t only challenging for them – you need support and guidance, too.

Throughout your child’s anxiety or depression therapy journey, I will provide you with valuable:

  • support and understanding
  • tools and strategies to implement at home with your child
  • regular check-ins to update you on their progress
  • insight and potential solutions to presenting concerns

The most important thing I want you and your child to know is that I value, above all, our therapeutic relationship. Because when you and your child are comfortable with me, that’s when powerful changes happen.

My Therapy Approach

I cherish the uniqueness of each and every one of my clients. That means your child, young adult, or teen counseling will be equally unique and tailored specifically to your needs. I will meet you or your child right where you are and carefully consider your case and presenting problems to determine the best way to approach your challenges.

Therapy won’t just be you sitting in a comfy place chatting with me on the computer. It will be an immersive experience, focusing on your unique strengths to help you overcome what is taking the joy out of your life. In fact, I’ve had many of my clients participate in young adult and teen counseling in several creative ways, including:

  • creating paintings
  • writing poetry
  • composing songs and music

Whatever your or your child’s strengths and preferences, I’ll leverage them to help them achieve the best possible therapeutic outcome.

Modalities I Use in Depression and Anxiety Therapy

Because I don’t employ a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, I have training in several evidence-based modalities to treat depression and anxiety. These include the following:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a proven effective treatment for anxiety and depression, among other mental health concerns. It is a short-term, structured therapy approach that empowers you to make progress quickly. You or your child will learn valuable coping skills, how to better manage stress, and how to handle difficult situations. CBT also empowers you to recognize and modify harmful thinking patterns, allowing them to take control of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Using DBT can help you or your child improve your emotional regulation, allowing you to manage intense emotions without having impulsive reactions. It’ll also help you learn how to navigate relationships more effectively, set healthy boundaries, and manage interpersonal conflict. DBT combines mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness strategies to help you make positive changes.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

This child, young adult, and teen counseling approach will help you explore and resolve ambivalence about making behavioral changes. I’ll help you or your child discover why you want to change and work toward enhancing your internal motivation rather than relying on others. MI is exceptionally flexible and can be combined with other therapy approaches to improve treatment effectiveness. And because it focuses on personal motivation and values, it tends to foster long-lasting positive change.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

SFT is a goal-oriented and future-focused therapy approach emphasizing finding solutions over dissecting problems. It empowers you or your child to recognize their own strengths, past successes, and resources to boost self-confidence and enable them to create their own solutions. This therapy approach also builds resilience and self-reliance by focusing on solutions and individual strengths. This can help you or your child face future challenges more readily.

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

Let’s Harness Your Child’s Strengths and Empower Them to Make Positive Changes

What do you have to lose? I’ll tell you: nothing. What do you have to gain? I’ll tell you again: relief – sweet, sweet relief. Let’s work together to help them discover their innate strengths and abilities and leverage them to overcome what’s holding them back.
